Days 78 - 82 Lots of Stuff

I had MAJOR Internet problems this week.  Everything has finally been resolved but it took a LOT longer than I might have hoped.  Quite amazing to see how much you rely on the Internet and email!!  On the positive side, I got to talk to lots of interesting Bell technicians in many different parts of the world!!

So.... I need to do some catching up on reporting my throwing stuff out!  Here goes...  We've got an old router that we no longer need.  (One of the things Bell sent along was a new modem whereby I don't need an extra router!)

Then there's a travel clock that I have never, ever used.  I take my cell phone with me everywhere.  Who needs an extra clock?  The battery is dead, I don't need to buy another one!

Another foot of books!!  There will be many more feet of books we're not reading and don't need anymore.  Future movers of the Ivany household are thanking us now!!

A couple of pairs of socks that I've been meaning to get rid of for awhile.  Have you got any socks that need to be pitched out.  These are beyond darning...if anyone darns socks anymore!

And finally, a broken bicycle pump.  We've got another one.  We bought it because this one broke down.  But it never made it to the garbage.  Not sure why not, but out it goes now.

So, there you have it, caught up, faster internet connection, slightly emptier house!!

  1. Found your blog yesterday, I think this is great. Are you completely de-cluttered? Are you going to write anymore? Now that we have another New Year I wonder if you might want to get back to this?

As a (1) currently committed thrower outer and (2) sporadic goal-setter I would like to encourage you to return to your humorous and inspiring project. Maybe instead of a year you could shoot for one month at a time?

Over the years I have found that Jan to April are wonderful months for self-improvement. But then we have the gardening of May, the family activities and delightful outdoors of the summer, then the approaching holidays in the fall to hijack our time for ourselves. So, it is almost impossible to do something for a whole year, don't you think?

Either way (writing more or not) thanks for sharing your story. It made me laugh, and return with greater purpose to my own work at hand.

My story: I desperately want to move from our big home to another city nearer three of our four children. We need to downsize from 3000 sq feet to 1500 or so. I am dreaming of a pretty townhouse with a place for everything and everything in its place. I don't need to take 500 clothes hangers to my new house, nor 50 feet of books, or the hamper full of dvds, etc. So now, while I have the energy and motivation, I'm slogging through my stuff, item by item.

I like the idea of taking pictures of the ridiculous stuff with which we share our home, then find the strength to discard.

Best wishes! Thanks for sharing what you have done, and good luck with future work. -Kathy
